Christmas is just around the corner, and with many of us working from home it’s the perfect time to buy a gift that is both practical and very-much-appreciated. So forget the last-resort pair of socks for that famously tough-to-buy-for person in your life and get them something that will have a daily impact on their life.
Here’s our gift guide for people working from home!
Adjustable Standing Desks
Now it wouldn’t be an Ergo blog without us raving about the benefits of standing desks, and we know that for months people have been putting up with dining tables, kitchen worktops, the coffee table or even worse when doing their daily work.
However, used to it that person might be, there is no doubt that not having an adequate dedicated workspace can have a real negative effect on productivity. So why not get that loved one in your life an adjustable standing desk – if nothing else it might get them out the living room!
At Ergo, our desks so much more than providing a workspace. They help to keep you active and engaged with your work, optimising focus and reducing posture-related back pain. With the click of a button you can adjust your workspace to the perfect level without having to commit to sitting or standing all day.
We have a wide range of colours and models available for all tastes and budgets – take a look!
Headphones
Virtual meetings are something we have all had to get used to, and they have quickly become the norm. However, without the right equipment they can still present a few communication issues that can be overcome quickly and easily.
Microphones and speakers that are built in to computers and other technology are rarely high-performing. This can make calls through Zoom, Teams, Skype, or any other platform a bit of an issue – especially in meetings where multiple people may be speaking at the same time.
It also means that people can shout rather than speaking in their normal voice in order to compensate for the difficulties they might be having in hearing others, assuming that they can’t be heard either, making for a noisy and disruptive household.
A dedicated pair of headphones with a built-in microphone can make a world of difference, especially important in households where two people are working in close proximity!
Ergonomic Chairs
Many people are lucky enough to have a reasonably good workspace with a suitable desk or table, but are making use with a far-from-ideal chair. Dining chairs might be adequate for an hour-long meal, but they aren’t designed to support your back all day every day.
Also, chairs that are too comfy might have the opposite problem. Sitting in an armchair which is just begging you to sit back and relax does not promote a productive and focused mindset – it’s far too easy to slouch back and have your mind on anything but work, most likely a nap…
Ergonomic chairs provide the perfect balance of comfort and support. Although the first instinct for many of us is to slouch in a chair, this is terrible for our spine and can cause many issues down the line. Ergonomic chairs help to keep every vertebrae aligned to alleviate and prevent back pain.
